A groundbreaking moment for the future of senior living in Northern Virginia!🏗️
Goodwin Living has officially broken ground on Goodwin House Seminary Road, a $360 million development that has already reached 100% occupancy, three years ahead of its anticipated 2029 opening.
Beyond creating a new senior living community, this expansion represents a significant investment in the region’s future. With clarkbuilds leading as general contractor, the development is expected to generate more than 1,200 construction jobs and contribute an estimated $150 million for local businesses, supporting economic growth throughout the area.
As America`s rapidly aging population continues to increase, the need for additional housing care options is vital. Goodwin House Seminary Road will help address this growing need by expanding senior living capacity in Alexandria and broadening access to housing and long-term care options throughout Northern Virginia.
Alexandria Mayor Alyia Gaskins ( @alyia4alx ) captured the significance of the project, saying, "This project is the very embodiment of that plan. It is that plan coming to life," referring to Alexandria`s Age Friendly Plan and its vision of a community where older adults can age independently, stay connected and live with dignity.
This milestone marks an important step toward a future where more older adults have access to the housing, care and community they deserve.

Last month, residents and team members had fun celebrating our eighth annual Citizenship Celebration!🎊
With more than 1,400 team members from over 65 countries, our community is enriched by the diverse perspectives and experiences each person brings. This year`s celebrations highlighted team members who recently became U.S. citizens, along with others who are working toward citizenship through the Goodwin Living Citizenship Program. Their stories of perseverance, achievement and hope were a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience within our community.
Through the Goodwin Living Foundation, team members can receive assistance with citizenship application fees, while volunteer resident mentors are paired with participants to provide support and encouragement as they prepare for their citizenship test.
We are honored to celebrate these incredible milestones and beyond grateful to the generous donors of the Goodwin Living Foundation who make moments like these possible.✨
