(Alexandria, Va.) April 3, 2024– Today, Goodwin Living™, a not-for-profit, faith-based, senior living and health care services organization in the National Capital Region, announced that Administrator of Goodwin Home Health, Kerri Mai, RN, RAC-CT, IP, CCS, was honored as a Healthcare Council 2024 Employee of the Year. Mai was recognized at the Healthcare Council’s Annual Employee of the Year Awards Luncheon on March 14.

The Healthcare Council, an association of healthcare providers, schools and health-related institutions in the Mid-Atlantic region, promotes intelligent planning, facilitates discussion of common problems and acts as a clearinghouse for the exchange of information among its members. The Healthcare Council Employee of the Year Award is presented annually to employees who make significant contributions to healthcare in the year prior. The award is based on three criteria: Sustainability, Quality, and Customer/Patient Satisfaction.

“Kerri Mai is a treasured member of the Goodwin Living team and works tirelessly to bring the services and mission of Goodwin Living to older adults throughout the National Capital Region,” said Rob Liebreich, President and CEO of Goodwin Living. “As more older adults choose to remain in their homes, we are grateful for team members like Kerri who bring individualized care, strength and independence to older adults wherever they choose to call home.”

Mai joined Goodwin Living in 2020 and was promoted to Home Health Administrator in 2022. In this role, she leads and facilitates home health skilled nursing and therapy services to older adults in the City of Alexandria as well as Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties. She currently leads 52 team members and manages an average census of 150 patients throughout this area of Northern Virginia. She supports a skilled nursing team of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants who implement individualized plans of care for patients of Goodwin Home Health.

A career professional in health care, Mai served as a combat medic turned military nurse in the U.S. Army, specializing in Intensive Care Unit support for Combat Support Hospitals. Following her military service, she began working with older adults as a Minimum Data Set coordinator for Medical Facilities of America. She then worked for The Virginian Retirement Community as an Assistant Director of Nursing, providing education and support for the nursing and clinical teams. She ultimately served as Director of Post Acute Care, where she supported patients as they transitioned from skilled nursing care back to their homes.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized by my fellow Goodwin Living team members and the Healthcare Council,” said Mai. “I’m grateful to work with such a talented team of people at an organization that shares my commitment to supporting and uplifting older adults across Northern Virginia.”

“We were honored to recognize Kerri Mai, Goodwin Home Health Administrator, at our recent awards ceremony as a leader in our field who makes healthcare exceptional in our region with a passion for her patients,” said Les Pitton, President and CEO of the Healthcare Council. “Leaders like Kerri will always be our greatest asset. We thank her for the inspiring difference she makes every day.”
