Alexandria, Va. – On January 30, 2025, the Concerned Citizens Network of Alexandria (CCNA) and Goodwin Living™ will host the first event in a two-part speaker series, The Journey Continues. The event, “Through My Eyes”, will honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through the personal accounts and interpretive insights of Alexandria leaders and citizens. This session will explore key moments in King’s legacy, including his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech and his funeral.
This event is part of The Journey Continues, a two-event series honoring President Abraham Lincoln and King that aims to inspire reflection, foster meaningful dialogue and promote civic engagement by bringing together students and older adults. Attendees will explore the shared values of faith, leadership, and a commitment to justice and equality that defined these two iconic figures in history. The speaker series will take place during January, honoring Dr. King, and February, honoring Black History Month and President Lincoln’s birthday. Students from Alexandria City Public Schools will attend the two community conversations and will be invited to submit questions to the panelists. Both events will feature Q&A sessions and be livestreamed on YouTube.
“CCNA is proud to partner with Goodwin Living and present this speaker series honoring the impactful legacies of President Abraham Lincoln and Rev.
