Goodwin Living Foundation Welcomes Four New Board Members

New leadership strengthens commitment to the Foundation’s philanthropic mission, innovative programs and support for older adults and caregivers

Alexandria, Va. – Today, the Goodwin Living Foundation announced the addition of four members to its Board of Directors. The Goodwin Living Foundation is the philanthropic organization that supports the mission of Goodwin Living™, a not-for-profit, faith-based, senior living and health care services organization in the National Capital Region.

“The Goodwin Living Foundation is grateful to support excellence in care and support of older adults served by Goodwin Living as well as innovative programs available to older adults across the country that support their health, wellness and sense of purpose,” said Joan Renner, Chair of the Goodwin Living Foundation Board of Directors. “Today, we welcome four new Foundation board directors whose expertise will help us continue to support these innovative programs for residents, members and patients of Goodwin Living and the team members who uplift them every day.”

The mission of the Goodwin Living Foundation is rooted in supporting the residents, team members and families of Goodwin Living through financial assistance programs, professional development opportunities and innovative care services. Thanks to generous support from donors, the Goodwin Living Foundation funds programs that enhance the lives of older adults and caregivers, including groundbreaking initiatives like music and art therapy and end-of-life care through Goodwin Hospice.

One standout Foundation-supported initiative is the Goodwin Living Citizenship Program. Launched in 2018, this initiative covers U.S. citizenship application fees for team members and engages residents in tutoring them for the citizenship exam. In 2022, the program expanded to include application fees for up to two additional family members of team members with at least one year of service. To date, the program has supported more than 200 Goodwin Living team members and their family members on the path to U.S. citizenship, reflecting the program’s profound impact on lives and communities.

The Goodwin Living Foundation extends its reach nationwide through the StrongerMemory program, a no-cost initiative helping older adults improve cognitive health. By stimulating the brain’s memory retrieval functions with simple, science-backed exercises, StrongerMemory supports individuals seeking to thrive as they age and those living with mild cognitive impairment.
