Campus Visits With Residents

The following protocols apply to on-campus visits with residents of all levels of living, unless otherwise noted. Please click on the tabs below for specific protocols that apply to each of our individual campuses.

  • Guests must wear surgical masks during the visit. They may acquire one from the Reception Desk.
  • Guests should maintain social distance and frequently practice good hand hygiene.
  • Guests are unable to visit for 15 days after a positive COVID test. We ask that guests postpone their visit if they are experiencing symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19.
  • Guests traveling domestically or internationally do not need to quarantine prior to their visit.
  • Guests who are feeling unwell should postpone their visit until their symptoms clear.

Visit Protocols for GHA

Visits with Residents of the Health Care Center:

  • Visits may take place in the resident’s room, if all visitors are fully vaccinated. If any visitor is unvaccinated (including children), visits must take place outdoors or in designated indoor spaces.
  • For all visits, everyone must wear masks at all times, maintain social distance as they are able and practice frequent hand hygiene.

Visits with Residents of Residential (Independent) Living:

  • Visits will take place in the resident’s apartment.
  • Masks must be worn at all times during the visit.
  • Fully vaccinated guests may stay overnight in the resident’s apartment. No testing required.

Visits with Residents in Assisted Living / Memory Support:

Due to an increased risk of COVID-19, local public health authorities strongly discourage visits to these areas at this time. We ask that you please consider rescheduling your visit for a later date.

If you choose to proceed with your visit:

  • Visits will take place in the resident’s apartment.
  • Masks must be worn at all times during the visit.

Fully vaccinated guests may dine with residents for meals in the Alexandria Dining Room, Arbor Room, Fillmore Lounge and Bistro. You will be asked to provide proof of vaccination at all dining venues. Reservations are required for some venues.

Visit Protocols for GHBC

Visits with Residents of the Health Care Center:

If you choose to visit, we must inform you that there may be a risk of exposure to COVID-19 during your visit. Please follow the protocols that we have in place at the time of your visit. They are in place in order to protect residents, staff and you.

  • Visits may take place in the resident’s room, if all visitors are fully vaccinated. If any visitor is unvaccinated (including children), visits must take place outdoors or in designated indoor spaces.
  • For all visits, everyone must wear masks at all times, maintain social distance as they are able and practice frequent hand hygiene.

Visits with Residents of Residential (Independent) Living and Assisted Living / Memory Support:

  • Visits will take place in the resident’s apartment.
  • Masks must be worn at all times during the visit.
  • For Residential Living Only: Fully vaccinated guests may stay overnight in the resident’s apartment. No testing required.

Fully vaccinated guests may dine with residents for meals in the Jefferson Dining Room, the Fireside and the Bistro. Reservations are required for some venues.

COVID-19 Screening Questions

Please Review the Following COVID-19 Screening Questions Prior to Your Visit:

  1. Do you have shortness of breath?
  2. Do you have a sore throat?
  3. Do you have a cough or a change in a chronic cough?
  4. Have you had a fever, chills or body aches in the last 48 hours?
  5. Are you experiencing a new loss of taste or smell?
  6. In the last 48 hours, have you been exposed to anyone being tested for COVID-19?
  7. In the last 48 hours, have you been exposed to anyone COVID-19 positive?
  8. Consent: I verify that all of the above information is accurate to the best of my knowledge.
  • If you answered “yes” to any of these questions: Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate your visit at this time.
  • If you answered “no” to all of these questions: We strongly encourage you to have a COVID-19 test before visiting, though it is not required. If possible, tests should be conducted up to three days before your visit.

Resources for COVID-19 Testing:

  • Ask your primary care physician to write a script to be tested
  • Contact your local health department and inquire if testing is available and under what circumstances
  • If you are employed, inquire if your employer will provide testing
  • Explore local urgent care clinics and pharmacies for testing options
