Valerie Burke, Chief Philanthropy Officer
As Chief Philanthropy Officer, Valerie Burke leads the overall fundraising efforts of the Foundation. Valerie works to encourage generosity and foster partnerships to advance the mission of Goodwin Living. With more than 30 years of fundraising experience, she is delighted to share that every day she is invigorated by our mission and has a passion for supporting our community of generosity in new and innovative ways.
Emily Ricker, Administrative Assistant
The newest member of the team, Emily comes to Goodwin Living with an enthusiasm for supporting her fellow team members and an interest in cross-cultural studies. She is looking forward to utilizing her past experiences to advance the mission of the Goodwin Living Foundation.
Mary Kate Roberts, Director of Development, Goodwin House Alexandria
Mary Kate Roberts first joined the Goodwin Living Foundation in May 2019 as Director of Individual Giving. Her extensive fundraising career includes leadership positions at the Washington Performing Arts Society and the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. She is a former fundraising consultant with the Dwight D. Eisenhower Society in her hometown, Gettysburg, PA.
Allison Smigel, Director of Stewardship
Allison Smigel joined the Goodwin Living Foundation team as Director of Stewardship in September 2020. She is excited to work alongside dedicated and passionate professionals who care deeply about fulfilling the Goodwin Living mission every day.
James Woodward, Director of Development, Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads
With more than 20 years of non-profit fundraising experience, James Woodward joined the Goodwin Living Foundation in September 2022 as Director of Development. In this role, he enjoys meeting and getting to know the residents and colleagues who comprise this warm and caring community and are at the heart of Goodwin Living’s mission.
The Goodwin Living Foundation Board of Directors is made up of community leaders and citizens who are passionate about our work. Board members contribute more than 1,500 hours of their time on behalf of Goodwin Living. In addition, 100 percent of our Foundation Directors and GHI Board Trustees make financial contributions to the Foundation.
We look forward to working with you as we continue our mission of ensuring the Goodwin Living community is a vibrant place to work and live.
