Continuing Light Community: Resources to Share

Goodwin Hospice created the Continuing Light Community because we believe that comfort, support and understanding are woven from shared experiences and wisdom. Each of the resources shared below, generously contributed by members of our Continuing Light Community, have helped someone navigate the unique challenges of serious illness, caregiving or grief, and we are grateful to be able to pass them along.

We will continue to regularly share resources that have brought hope, comfort or practical help to others. If you have something meaningful to recommend, we invite you to send your suggestions to HospiceBereavement@GoodwinLiving.org. Together, we can ensure no one feels alone on this journey.

Music & Connection

Recommended by Family Member, Katy D.

During her mother’s hospice journey, Katy found comfort in two simple but meaningful ways: music and connection.

She created a personal playlist—a mix of energetic songs, soulful pieces and nostalgic favorites. “Playing the music in the car, or during an evening walk, picking the right piece for the moment, soothed me so much,” she shared.

Katy also found unexpected support through her mother’s hospice chaplain. “She recognized that I needed support, and she was so good to me,” Katy said. “She embodied how hospice is not only for the patient, but for the family.” Their connection offered deep comfort and reminded her that no one has to walk this journey alone.

Grief.com

Recommended by Leeza Sanderson, LCSW and GH Bereavement Counselor

David Kessler has spent decades sitting with people who are dying and those who are grieving, learning what truly helps when loss becomes real. His approach to grief is honest, compassionate, and deeply human. His website, grief.com, offers thoughtful Q&As, short videos, his podcast Grief Out Loud, and practical resources that avoid platitudes and speak gently to the hardest moments.

Podcast: Everything Happens with Kate Bowler

Recommended by Noël Durman, Director of Hospice Giving

Kate Bowler’s podcast explores love, loss, and the human condition with warmth and curiosity. I learned a lot and was comforted by the episode “Kathryn Mannix: Living with the End in Mind.” Dr. Mannix is a palliative care physician and cognitive behavioral therapist who speaks plainly and compassionately about death, presence, and how acknowledging life’s limits can deepen the way we live and care for one another.
