At Goodwin House Alexandria, we value your physical and spiritual well-being. Our holistic approach to lifelong health means we place a strong emphasis on fitness, nutrition and faith.
Whatever your beliefs or traditions, we’re here to support you in your faith journey. Our full-time chaplain offers regular Episcopal services, and additional faith services are regularly available. Many residents also choose to worship with a local congregation.
If you’re keen to become more involved, our spiritual life and outreach committees are open to all residents. There are multiple ways to give your time, whether it’s playing the piano or reading scripture, filling kids’ backpacks with school supplies or collecting food for families in need.
We encourage you to make the most of our programs, but there’s no pressure to take part in activities related to spiritual life.
We think you’ll love working out in our on-site fitness center. If you’re happy pounding a treadmill or spinning an exercise bike, a personal trainer can help you find the right level for you. If you’re more motivated by group classes, you can choose from sessions like water aerobics, tai chi and SAIL (Stay Active & Independent for Life), a program to help you improve your balance and mobility.
There are plenty of opportunities to give your brain a workout too, whether it’s joining friends in a game of poker or bridge or taking part in an animated book group discussion.
We understand that a good diet is essential to a healthy mind and body. Residents enjoy tasty, nutritious meals in a choice of casual and formal dining areas, both indoors and out.
Prefer to cook for yourself? You can gain tips on eating well from a registered dietitian at one of our nutrition classes or stock up on seasonal produce during a market shopping trip.
