Alexandria, Va. — The Goodwin Living Foundation recently announced the election of three new members to its Board of Directors: Rev. Dr. Laura Cunningham, Rob DiNardo and Jeanne Broyhill and the appointment of Dr. Anthony J. “Tony” Tambasco as Board Chair.

Tambasco, a Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads resident and Professor Emeritus of Theology at Georgetown University, has served on the Board of Directors since 2017. He succeeds Joan Renner, senior consultant at Renner and Company, who served for two years as Board Chair.

“I am very grateful to the Foundation Board for their confidence in electing me as Board Chair, and I appreciate the wonderful condition of the Foundation as left to me by our former board chair Joan Renner and former Chief Philanthropy Officer Valerie Burke,” said Tambasco. “I know I have the support of our new Chief Philanthropy Officer Heather Sherman, of the Board and of our many donors in building on our strengths as we carry the Foundation into the future.”

Tambasco’s appointment, combined with the election of new board members, underscores the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to strong and thoughtful leadership. The three newly elected board members bring a wide range of perspectives and experience:

  • Rev. Dr. Laura Cunningham, a graduate of Davidson College and Columbia Theological Seminary (D.Min.), is an ordained Presbyterian pastor (PCUSA) with more than 25 years of experience. “I am excited to support the Goodwin Living Foundation in uplifting Goodwin Living as a community of care—for residents, for team members, and for the wider community,” she shared.
  • Rob DiNardo is a seasoned adjunct professor, having received a master’s degree in International Affairs from American University and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from John Carroll University. He previously served in senior analytical and supervisory roles within federal law enforcement, most recently as Assistant Section Chief at the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). “I like this quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: ‘Everyone can be great, because everyone can serve,’” he said.
  • Jeanne Broyhill is a graduate of Boston University’s School of Public Communications, and former Marketing Director for  Multifamily Housing for the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac). For more than two decades, she was an active board member and board chair for Culpepper Garden, an Arlington low-and-moderate income independent and assisted living community. Broyhill also served as chair of the Arlington Community Foundation, and served on the Foundation of the National Lutheran Community and Services. “I am honored to be selected to serve on the Goodwin Living Foundation Board,” she said. “In my mind, working for this foundation and for what it represents is a pinnacle of my working and volunteering experiences. I look forward to this next experience.”

The Goodwin Living Foundation also recognized the extensive contributions of Gant Redmon, John Komoroske and Kim Fiske whose terms concluded, following decades of thoughtful guidance and steadfast support.

Thanks to generous support from donors, the Goodwin Living Foundation actively invests in programs that further the Goodwin Living mission to support, honor and uplift the lives of older adults and those who care for them. Residents, team members and families benefit from financial assistance, opportunities for professional development and innovative care services—hospice benefits, cutting-edge brain health programs and more—shepherded by the Foundation.

The Goodwin Living Foundation continues to expand programs that have significant local, national and even global impact. Among these programs is the StrongerMemory program, a no‑cost cognitive health initiative used by individuals and organizations across the world to support memory retrieval and mental engagement. Another Foundation-supported endeavor is the Goodwin Living Citizenship Program, which covers U.S. citizenship application fees for Goodwin Living team members and their immediate family members, and engages residents in tutoring team members for their citizenship exam.
