This week, Goodwin House Alexandria came together for a Celebration of Cultures, honoring the incredible diversity that makes our community so special.🌎

From savoring traditional Ethiopian coffee to singing Scottish songs and learning more about the unique backgrounds of our team members, the event was a wonderful opportunity to support one another!

At Goodwin Living, more than 1,450 team members representing over 80 countries help create a community enriched by diverse cultures, experiences and perspectives. It`s this spirit of inclusion, creativity and belonging that makes Goodwin Living such a vibrant place to live and work.

Thank you to our team members and residents for helping foster an environment where everyone feels welcomed, valued and inspired. ❤️

His words reflect a challenge that many employers are facing thanks to the Trump administration ending the Temporary Protected Status for more than 300,000 Haitian immigrants.

As Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, notes: "Many industries are struggling to replace immigrant workers who are leaving the workforce…this is limiting the ability of these industries to expand and raising their costs and thus inflation."

At Goodwin Living, we see the importance of this workforce every day. Nearly 70% of our team members were born outside the United States. As the nation’s older adult population continues to grow, reducing an already essential workforce could make it more difficult for older adults to access the care they need while increasing the cost of providing that care.

The implications of Trump’s immigration policy extend far beyond a single industry. This change has the potential to impact workforce stability, access to care and the broader economy.

🏆 Goodwin Living is proud to be recognized as one of Virginia’s Top Employers for Interns for the fourth consecutive year!

To celebrate this achievement, summer interns Iman and Promise represented Goodwin Living at the Region 7 Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership (V-TOP) Intern Day celebration at Northern Virginia Community College’s Annandale Campus. The event brought together employers, community partners, and interns from across Northern Virginia to recognize the importance of meaningful work-based learning opportunities and the impact internships have on students’ career journeys.

Thank you to V-TOP for this recognition and to the interns, mentors, and team members who make this program a success. We are especially grateful to the generous donors to the Goodwin Living Foundation for making these paid internship opportunities possible year after year.

The View Alexandria brought the fun of the state fair indoors with an afternoon full of games, favorite fair foods and hands-on activities. 🎡

Residents and team members enjoyed carnival games, trivia, hobby demonstrations and classic fair favorites like popcorn, corn dogs and funnel cakes. It was a wonderful day filled with laughter, connection and the chance to try something new together.
