Alexandria, Va. – Goodwin Living™, a not-for-profit, faith-based, senior living and health care services organization in the National Capital Region, announced today that Hwan Yi, LNHA, MSW, MA, has been selected as the new Executive Director of Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads. He succeeds Justin Carwile who served as Executive Director of Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads since 2017.
“Hwan’s welcoming and intentional approach to listening and working collaboratively stood out during the recruitment process,” said Chandra Kumar, Goodwin Living Chief Operating Officer. “I am confident that his strong understanding of senior living and deep commitment to older adults will continue to support and uplift residents and team members in our community at Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads.”
“Goodwin Living has long been known to the local community for its commitment to the mission to support, honor and uplift the lives of older adults and those who care for them,” said Yi. “It is an honor to be a part that mission at Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads and contribute to the community’s legacy with my professional experience and commitment.”
Yi brings more than 20 years of experience in senior living to his new role. He most recently served as the Health Care Center Administrator for The Fairfax at Belvoir Woods, a Sunrise Senior Living continuing care retirement community located in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
During his career, Yi has successfully improved team member retention, formed cohesive work teams, engaged with residents and family members to understand and uplift their desires and needs, and demonstrated exceptional leadership capacity in each of his roles.
Equally important was his experience in support of older adults of varying means and diverse backgrounds through service to Birmingham Green, a low-income senior housing community in Manassas, Va., and the PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) program, which helps adults ages 55+ living with chronic healthcare needs or disabilities to receive community-based healthcare and supports.
Located at the border of Arlington and Falls Church, Virginia, Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads is home to more than 450 residents, employs more than 230 team members and offers independent living, assisted living, memory support, short-term rehabilitation and long-term nursing care. Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads opened in 1987.
Yi holds a bachelor of arts in religious studies from Seoul National University, a master of arts in divinity from The University of Chicago and a master of arts in social work from Washington University. He is also a licensed Nursing Home and Assisted Living Administrator in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
