Alexandria, Va. – Today, Goodwin Living™ and Forest Hills of DC announced their affiliation. Forest Hills of DC (“FHDC”) is a respected faith-based, not-for-profit senior living organization located in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Washington, D.C. For more than 135 years, FHDC has provided high quality care to older adults through assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing. Goodwin Living is a faith-based, not-for-profit, senior living and healthcare services organization serving around 4,000 older adults annually in the National Capital Region.
“The Forest Hills of DC Board of Directors has been focused on ensuring a strong and vibrant future for Forest Hills of DC,” said Isabella Firth-Shycoff, FHDC Board Chair. “The common histories, culture and commitment to resident quality of life of our respective organizations and their team members affirmed for the FHDC Board that an affiliation with Goodwin Living would richly unite our mission-driven, not-for-profit organizations.”
“Forest Hills of DC represents an organization focused on excellent care for those they serve, an excellent place to work and an organization which understands the importance of innovation,” shared Rob Liebreich, Goodwin Living President and CEO. “Forest Hills of DC has a remarkable legacy of serving a diverse community of older adults and together, we will be better able to support the D.C. community for generations to come.”
Since May 2024, Goodwin Living has provided certain management services for FHDC, and the organizations are confident that their strategic affiliation will result in enhanced resident programs, improved occupancy and a stronger FHDC moving forward.
FHDC owns and operates assisted living, memory care, short term rehabilitation, long term nursing care and respite care. It is home to nearly 100 older adults through its 51 assisted living apartments and 55 skilled nursing suites and is supported by 122 team members and approximately 30 on-site business partners for dining services, therapy, security and rehab.
Goodwin Living owns and operates two senior living communities in Alexandria, Va., and one in Falls Church (Fairfax Co.), Va., that are home to nearly 1,200 older adults. Goodwin Living owns and operates a home health agency (Goodwin Home Health), a rehab agency (Goodwin Rehabilitation), an age at home program (Goodwin Living At Home), a home care program (Goodwin Home Care) and a hospice program (Goodwin Hospice).
With its long history in the D.C. community, FHDC has enduring name recognition and reputational value. Through the affiliation, FHDC will continue as its own corporate organization with its own dedicated employee staff. In appreciation of both its history and its new realignment, FHDC will be known as “Forest Hills of DC by Goodwin Living.”
