Community Engagement
Expanding our reach to lift others up
Our mission to support, honor and uplift the lives of older adults and those who care for them extends into our greater community. Wherever and whenever we can, the Goodwin Living team works to improve the spiritual, creative, financial and health experience for those we serve. We are a champion of social good through community outreach, programs such as CPE and partnerships with non-profit, civic and government organizations.

GOODWIN LIVING INVESTMENTS IN OTHERS
Our impact
Goodwin Living and the Goodwin Living Foundation support more than 50 local not-for-profit organizations providing services for older adults, and we offer our facilities to other organizations and government agencies for events. As well, our residents and members give their time and talents to tutor students and mentor young adults. They also donate food, clothing and art to support other not-for-profit organizations. See how else we make a positive difference.

Programs powered by our purpose
Growing stronger by the day, our breadth of programs supported by the Goodwin Living Foundation – from pastoral education to healthcare to citizenship support – continue our mission beyond our Goodwin Living family. And every day we look for new ways to serve and uplift older adults. Here’s how we touch thousands of lives in the region around us.
Spiritual support
Goodwin Living Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) trains clergy of all faiths to support the spiritual journeys of older adults. Goodwin Living is among only 11 senior living communities in the U.S. that offer a professional Clinical Pastoral Education Program.
Aging services
Academic internships and hospital and nursing program partnerships that grow the talent pipeline for the field of aging services. We have education alliances with six major universities and colleges: George Washington University, Georgetown University, University of Maryland Global Campus, Northern Virginia Community College, Marymount University and George Mason University.
Brain Health and dementia training programs
These programs nurture dementia-friendly communities. We’ve hosted dementia training for law enforcement, airport personnel, faith-based organizations and more. Why? Because it is our mission to serve and uplift all older adults. Most recently, we have introduced Brain Health to senior service organizations across the country at no cost through donations to the Goodwin Living Foundation.
Best practice sharing
Whenever we develop a program that works, we share it with other organizations through playbooks such as our Citizenship Program playbook, a template for helping immigrant employees gain their U.S. citizenship. We have also launched an internship playbook to help organizations run a beneficial internship program to grow young professionals in the respective industry.

A greater reach in the greater community
We are devoted to uplifting our team and those we serve, as well as making a meaningful, tangible impact in the larger community through programs and partnerships with like-minded organizations.
